Regeneration of a coked fixed bed catalytic reactor has been carried out with different initial coke profiles representing the extremes of parallel and series coking. These coke profiles were determined by a non-invasive method, namely neutron attenuation. The temperature peaks obtained on regenerat

β¦ Synopsis
A numerical solution of the nonlinear distributed parameter dynamics of both parallel-flow and counter-flow fixed bed heat regenerators is presented. The effects of various operating conditions on the fluid and solids temperature transients and on the thermal efficiency of the system are investigated. The character of the response at various levels is found to depend to a large extent on the direction of the initial axial temperature gradient along the solids.

Heat effects in fixed-bed sorption columns are often quite large and have a pronounced effect on the sorption kinetics. Proper design of such systems must include consideration of these effects. A method is developed for computing the maximum possible bed temperature. The model is tested on two sys
Pluid-to-particle heat transfer measurements in fixed bed were performed via microwave heating technique. The selective absorption of microwave power by the particles alone achieved constant uniformity in the solid temperature within the bed. Thus it successfully separated the fluid-to-particle heat
## Abstract The mathematical equations for heat transfer between a flowing fluid and both slabβshaped and spherical particles with intraparticle conduction in a fixed bed, are numerically solved using the method of lines. The solution for spherical particles was used to confirm previous results for
