✦ Synopsis

It follows from analysis of experimental results that virtually no data described in Iherarure, with the exception of the data on cathodic hydrogen evolution at a mercury cathode, can be used with sufficient justification to discuss the temperature dependence of the transfer coefficient. It is demonstrated that these data can practically completely be explained by the influence on the apparent transfer coefficient of this reaction exerted by the $,-effect resulting from the diffuseness of the electric double layer.

I t has long been assumed that the effect of temperature on the diffusion coefficient D , the sedimentation coefficient s , and other hydrodynamic parameters is correctly described by Walden's rule and its extensions, i.e., hydrodynamic properties of dilute solutions of macromolecules scale linearl
