Fluorescence lifetimes of t-stilbene and its structurally rigid derivatives, i.e. substituted tetrahydrochrysenes, are reported. Single component fluorescence decays are observed for all these compounds. These t-stilbene derivatives show the same spectral features as found in a spectrum of t-stilben

The rate of y-ray-induced trans -cis isomerization of stilbene in dilute toluene solutions from -95o to A1OOo shows a maximum at about -25O. The results are interpreted in terms of interplay of opposing reactions. and of the role of triplet toluene.
