✦ Synopsis

A small probe was constructed to measure the temperature and relative humidity within the 7 cm fleece of a Clun Forest ewe. When the animal was in a stable environment at an air temperature between 5 and 28Β°C, the profiles of both temperature and absolute humidity were approximately linear with respeet to distance from the skin. The calculation of fluxes of sensible heat and water vapour from these gradients of temperature and absolute humidity is possible, but the accuracy of the result is low because the conductivity of the fleece is poorly defined under gradients of temperature and humidity.

Temperature gradients of various molten polymers during the cooling process were examined using a cooling jacket apparatus coupled with a novel temperature sensor. The temperature gradients appeared to be influenced by the heat transfer between the cooling medium and the polymer, the melt temperatur
