In this issue we report on the two new and definitely worth exploiting software packages. The first one, DataEngine, comes from the MIT (Management Intelligenter Technologien GmbH) and is aimed at realizing fuzzy data analysis. The second one, thoroughly reviewed by N. Technological Developments Section
Editorial Fuzzy systems toolbox. For use with MATLAB
This issue of the Section on Technological Development is dominated by rule-based computing. The Fuzzy Toolbox comes as an interesting addition to the MATLAB environment being an evident sign that the technology of fuzzy sets is a vital addition to the computational frameworks.
The package from Siemens, SIEFUZZY, is aimed at the development of rule-based systems and fuzzy controllers, in particular. There is a brief report on FuzzyDecisionDesk, a software coming from Fuzzy Demonstrations-Zentrum in Dortmund, Germany, a successful development centre offering a broad spectrum of fuzzy set technologies services. Finally, we look at some other new products.
The Section should be treated as a vital communication channel that fosters new dimensions of interaction between the members of the community. If you have any personal comments on the future developments of fuzzy set technologies, the way they should go (or they should not), I strongly encourage you to share your opinion. Your input is essential. Moreover, if you have gained any personal experience in using software or hardware tools, share your experience with others. We would like to broaden our communication bandwidth.
