The new section for Technical Communiques is expected to accomplish two objectives. First, to provide a suitable forum for the presentation of brief articles containing useful ideas, pertinent comments, or conjectures of a technical nature on established research topics. Second, to provide appropriate recognition to the contributions of the authors involved. Because Technical Communiques may contain new technical developments, or extensions of previously published work, it is necessary that they be reviewed. The review procedure will be flexible to accommodate different types of contributions. However, at least an Associate Editor and perhaps a referee will review each contribution.
In order to encourage the submission of Technical Communique and Correspondence articles, and to provide the authors and readers with more efficient service, the Automatica Editorial Board decided that an Automatica Editor, Technical Communiques and Correspondence should be appointed. This has been done, and the Board is pleased that Dr. Alexander Levis has accepted this new position.
A stated goal of the editor for Technical Communiques is to complete the reviewing process and arrive at a decision within two months from receipt of the manuscripts. To expedite
