## Abstract A fiber‐optic interferometric voltage sensor with a high‐sensitivity is investigated. The fiber‐optic voltage sensor is composed of an in‐line Michelson interferometer bonded to a piezoelectric transducer (PZT). The in‐line Michelson interferometer is a hollow optical fiber spliced to a

✦ Synopsis
Optical power transmission changes of 10-20 dB have been experimen-
tally demonstrated by ualying the temperature of a tapered monomode optical jiber that is fixed to a glass plate by two drops of adhesiue. The effect arises from different expansion coeficients of the glass substraie and the silica jiber. This induces rnicrobendings in the tapered region.
The temperature range of the sensor may be adjusted from 2 to 100 "(7, depending on the taper length and width.
