Tachyphylaxis to ephedrine was studied in anesthetized cats by the following parameters: pressor responses (height and duration), heart rate, nictitating membrane contractions, and tone. Leuo or dl-norepinephrine infusions, in contrast to e inephrine or phenylephrine infusions, given after the initial development of tachypfylaxis, produced a partial return of res onses to ephedrine.
