✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Antigen‐specific high zone unresponsiveness to two thymus‐dependent antigens, TNP~560~KLH (2,4,6trinitrophenylkeyhole) limpet hemocyanin and TNP~6~FGG (2,4,6trinitrophenylfowl IgG), was induced in vitro. It was found that carrier recognition was required for its production, and that unresponsiveness was present at the level of B cells.

Thymus‐derived cells were required to induce the unresponsive state in B cells.

Recent evidence indicates that conventional T cells are generated by the mainstream of T cell differentiation in the thymus and acquire a high density of T cell receptor expression (i.e. TCRhi). In contrast, primordial T cells (or NK1.1+ T cells) are generated by the extrathymic pathways or an alter

Background: Presentation of enterobacterial antigens by antigen-presenting cells and activation of enteroantigen-specific CD4 þ T cells are considered crucial steps in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathology. The detrimental effects of such CD4 þ T cells have been thoroughly demonstrated in model
