✦ Synopsis

The cationic polymerization of cis-1,2-dimethoxyethylene has been investigated and conditions for the formation of polymers of exceptionally high molecular weight of about lo6 have been established. I t was shown by means of GPC method, that long chain branching was absent, MWD was unimodal and J@,/@, ratio did not exceed 1.5. The factors increasing the stability of active centres of polymerization are discussed.
