✦ Synopsis

The mixed phosphine-phosphine oxides Ph2P(CH2) .-P(O)Ph z (n = 1 or 2) react with KzPtC14 to give cis-{PtC12-[r Treatment of the latter (n --2) with transition metal chloridcs MClz-nH20, or with M%SnC12, SnC14"5H20, Th(NO3)4.xH20 or UO2(NO3)2" 6H20, gives novel heterobimetallic complexes identified as cis-{PtClz[I~-PhzP(CHz)2P(O)Ph2]2MX2}.nHeO. Attempts to prepare similar heterobimetallic complexes using the starting complexes {PtXz[r/1-Ph2PCH2P(O)-Phz]z} (X = C1, cisor CN, trans-] were unsuccessful.
