Magnetic susceptibility (5 kG and 1.0 T applied fields) measurements were performed on polycrystalline samples on a Quantum Design MPMS SQUID magnetometer. Data are corrected for diamagnetic contributions according to the Pascal constants.

The synthesis and structural and magnetic characterisation of three new vanadium(III) phosphonate cage complexes are reported. The exchange interactions vary from À30 to +30 cm À1 and appear to be dependent on the superexchange path between vanadium centers.
