โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Summary: A [TiCl~2~(salen)] complex and its derivatives with the formula [TiCl~2~(L)] [Lโ€‰=โ€‰salen(__t__Bu), salen(diโ€Me), salen(diโ€__t__Bu), salen(Me)] were synthesized in high yield by reacting the Schiffโ€base ligands with TiCl~4~. [TiCl~2~{salen(__t__Bu)}] and [TiCl~2~{salen(diโ€__t__Bu)}] have been characterized by singleโ€crystal Xโ€ray diffraction. Styrene polymerizations carried out with [TiCl~2~(salen)] and its derivatives coโ€catalyzed by MAO yielded syndiotactic polystyrenes. The catalytic activity and syndiospecificity were dependent on the bulkiness of the ortho substituents in the aryl ring of ligand.

## Abstract A series of enolic Schiff base aluminum(III) complexes LAlR (where L=NNOOโ€tetradentate enolic Schiff base ligand) containing ligands that differ in their steric and electronic properties were synthesized. Their single crystals showed that these complexes are fiveโ€coordinated around the
