✦ Synopsis

Bicyclogermacrene (1) and lepidozene (2) have been synthesized byshortroutes starting fromgeranylacetone.

Titanium-induced cyclizations of cis-and trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-(3-methyl-7-oxo-3E-octenyl)cyclopropanecarbaldehyde were used as the key steps.

We have been involved for the last several years in exploring the value of titanium-induced carbonyl-coupling reactions' for natural-products synthesis.
