In the course of our study directed toward the total synthesis of Polyoxin J which is a member of the unique antibiotics, Polyoxin complex, 1) we have succeeded in syntheses of its constituent fragments; namely l-( '-amino-5'-deoxy-B-Dallofuranuronosyl)-thymine ') and 2-amino-2-deoxy-L-xylonic acid (I)31 which is designated as Polyoxamic acid. 1) Polyoxamic acid (I) also exists in Polyoxin A,
