✦ Synopsis

The palladium-catalyzed heteroannulation of internal alkynes using orthoaminoiodopyridine derivatives is described. This experimentally simple procedure, which employs a Pd(dppf)C12/LiCl/Na~CO 3 reagent system, allows rapid and reliable access to a structurally diverse range of 5-, 6-and 7-azaindoles.
