✦ Synopsis

Reaction of 1,2-dlhydro-4-methyl-benz(f)1soqulnollnes with methyl acrylate and oxalyl chloride gave the corresponding tetracyclic compounds, while with chloroacetyl chloride an enamide was obtained which could not be cycllsed thermally.
