โœฆ Synopsis

Acrylate and methacrylate monomers containing the photodimerizable G(, /3-unsaturated ketone moiety were prepared and polymerized in methyl ethyl ketone u&g benxoyl peroxide as initiator at 70ยฐC. The nolvmers were characterized bv UV. IR. 'H-NMR and "C-NMR snectra. The molecular weiahts fiW and -an'of the polymers were det&min&l by gel permeation chromatography. The thermal stability of the polymers was measured by thermogravimetric analysis in air and nitrogen. Glass transition temperatures of the polymers were determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The photoreactivities of the polymers were investigated as thin films and in solution.

Two chalcone-derivative isomers, 4,4-diaminochalcone ( 4DAC ) and 3,3diaminochalcone ( 3DAC ), were synthesized and used as monomers together with tetracarboxylic dianhydrides to prepare novel photosensitive polyimides that contain a chalcone moiety in the main chain. The polyimides were characteriz
