✦ Synopsis
Some aromatic poly(amid-hydrazidesl have been synthesized b) solution polycondensation at low temperature of aromatic hydrazides x~ith aroyl dichlorides. By heating these polymers at temperatures near 300, dehydrocyclizalion occurs to give polymers containing the oxadiazole ring in the main chain. Their excellent thermal stabilit3 has been tested by thermogravimetric analysis. Some physical properties of these aromatic heterocyclic po13 mers have been reported. * Inherent viscosity in 0-5~ conc H2SO, solution at 25 =. t" Decomposition temperature as determined by TG. Ta is assumed as the interception produced by extrapolation of both sections before and after the "'knee" in the TG curves, indicating a sudden increase in rate of decomposition.

## Abstract A novel thermally stable and semiconducting polyheterocycle, poly(1,3,4‐oxadiazole amine), was synthesized from 2‐(__p__‐aminophenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazolin‐5‐one via ring‐opening. The polymer is a new class of ordered alternating copoly(aniline) containing 1,3,4‐oxadiazole heterocyclic unit
A novel soluble conjugated polymer, poly[(2,5-diphenylene-1,3,4-oxadiazole)-4,4Ј-vinylene] (O-PPV), containing an electron-transporting group on the main chain of PPV, was synthesized according to HORNER mechanism. The oligo-polymer with M w ϭ 1000 and T d ϭ 270°C is soluble in chloroform and tetrah
