✦ Synopsis


The ligand properties of 2-(phenacylthio)pyridine towards gold(I) and silver(I) have been investigated. From the reactions of the ligand with acetone solutions of [M(PPh 3 )(acetone)]ClO 4 (M = Ag, Au) under various experimental conditions, complexes [(AuPPh 3 ) n {py{SCH 2 C(O)Ph}-2}](ClO 4 ) n , and [(AgPPh 3 ) n (OClO 3 ) n {py{SCH 2 C(O)Ph}-2}] (n = 1Ϫ3) have been obtained.
