The reaction of 1,2-diamines la-c with Ph3PBr2 in the presence of triethylamine gives rise to the corresponding diphosphonium salts 2a-c in good yields. Treatment of these salts with NaH at room temperature in CH,Cl, affords the diiminophosphoranes 3a-c in near quantitative yields. Derivatives 3a,b
