✦ Synopsis
The synlhesis of lhrLr differrnlly subslilulcd bis(alaalkyIor~phthnloEyaninnIo) IuIeIium complexes and of their chemically oxidized h~~achioroantimon~te dcrivaiives is described. Their ihermoiropic polymorphism is studied using polnriting microscopy. difrcrendal scvlning cnlorimeq, and X-ray diIrracclion_ A renraCve model describing rhe columnar (discotic) suture of one of the observed mesophases is proposed. The rnagmxic behavior or the nsu~nl complexes has been determined by ESR LS P function of temperature, showing Ihe presence of one spin per molecule. The struchwai transitions are assocked Gth the change of shape and svidkh 01 the ESR signal. * This work has been carried out in the framework or the GRIMM cooperative research program (Groupe de Recherches Interdisciplinaircs sur Ies Mak-iaux Molkk.ircs). This paper is p;rr~ 14 of a series or articles on nnnelides. For part 13, see ref. (11.
