The synthesis of methylated calix[4](aza)crowns and their complexing properties towards Co 2+ , Ni 2+ and Cu 2+ are described. The crystal structure of one of those ligands, hydrogen bonded to a picric acid molecule via a water molecule, is given.

The first representatives of 1,3-alt-thiacalix[4]mono(crown-5 and -6) ethers were synthesized by the cyclocondensation of 25,27-dialkoxythiacalix[4]arenes with tetraethylene glycol ditosylate and 1,14-diiodo-3,6,9,12-tetraoxatetradecane, respectively. The complexing abilities of ligands were determi
## Abstract The present study reports the synthesis of a novel ionophore, calix[4]azacrown (**5**) bearing two amino groups at the lower rim along with its oligomeric analogue (**6**). The liquidβliquid extraction properties of these compounds towards selected metal cations and dichromate anions ha
