โœฆ Synopsis


Two new compounds have been synthesized and characterized: ZrP 2 S 6 and ZrP 2 S 7 . Both were prepared from direct combination of the elements at high temperature using a chemical transporting agent. Single crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis (ICP-AE) were performed on the materials. ZrP 2 S 6 crystallized in a tetragonal space group (P-4, a โ€ซุโ€ฌ 6.6758(4) A s , c โ€ซุโ€ฌ 9.491(1) A s ) whereas the ZrP 2 S 7 crystallized in a monoclinic space group (C2/c, a โ€ซุโ€ฌ 8.614(1) A s , b โ€ซุโ€ฌ 29.684(4) A s , c โ€ซุโ€ฌ 8.583(1) A s , โ€ซุโ€ฌ 120.126ยฐยฐ). The ZrP 2 S 6 displayed a weak second harmonic generation at 1064 nm. 1999 Academic Press
