Ammonium rare earth 6uorides NH 4 Ln 3 F 10 (Ln ‫؍‬ Dy, Ho, Y, Er, Tm) were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Two polymorphs, of the hexagonal -KYb 3 F 10 and the cubic -KYb 3 F 10 structure types, were formed under hydrothermal conditions for most of the rare earth 6uorides except NH 4 Dy 3 F 1

Magnetic data are presented for LnMnO 3 (Ln=Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu) having the hexagonal crystal structure of P6 3 cm. DC magnetization measurements show that magnetic order is not clearly observed for Ln=Ho-Yb, while an antiferromagnetic transition of the Mn 3+ moments is found at B90 K for LuMnO 3

Compounds of the series Ln 6 ReO 12 , Ln‫؍‬Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu, have been prepared by subsolidus reaction and are isotypic with Ln 6 MoO 12 , Ln 6 WO 12 , and Ln 6 UO 12 , crystallizing in space group R3 with Z‫3؍‬ for the R-centered setting. The magnetic moment per rhenium ion in Lu 6 ReO 12 is

Magnetic properties of polycrystalline R 2 Ba 2 CuPtO 8 (R ‫؍‬ Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and Y) oxides have been studied from magnetization and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The lutetium and yttrium oxides behave as antiferromagnets and the estimated NeH el temperatures are 5.2 and 5.7 K, respectiv
