Homopolymers and copolymers of acrylamide (AA) and acrylic acid (AAc) were synthesized by the free radical solution polymerization technique. Feed ratios of the monomers were 85 : 15 (w/w), 65 : 35 (w/w), and 50 : 50 (w/w) of acrylamide and acrylic acid, respectively, for synthesis of copolymers. Al

β¦ Synopsis
Random copolyimides with different proportions of a diamine component were prepared by polymerizing different compositions of diamines with various dianhydrides and imidized thermally to 260Β°C. The imidization percent of poly(amic acid) was characterized at various temperatures by infrared spectroscopy. The homopolyimide based on bis[4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl]sulfone and pyromellitic dianhydride was the only one soluble. By changing the compositions of bis[4-(3-aminophenoxy)phenyl]sulfone and other diamines with pyromellitic dianhydride in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, soluble random copolyimides could be prepared. By random copolymerization, the thermal properties and viscosities of homopolyimide could be controlled. All the soluble polyimides prepared in this work were amorphous because of the lack of stereoregularity.

Soluble polyimides were synthesized and characterized from two diamines and four dianhydrides by the two-and the one-step method. Most of the polyimides could be soluble by one-step method except β£,β£Π-bis(4-aminophenyl)-1,4-diisopropyl benzene/3,3Π,4,4Π-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride system
A facile synthesis of two novel diisocyanates containing methylene groups and preformed imide structure is described. Furthermore, six thermally stable and soluble polyimides were synthesized by polycondensation of these two diisocyanates with pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonet
