✦ Synopsis
Copolymers of 4-cinnamoylphenyl methacrvlate with methyl methacrylate were prepared in methyl ethyl ietdne solution using benioyl peroxide as-initiator at 70"6. They were characterized by u.v., i.r., 'H-NMR and '-'C-NMR spectra. Their comoositions were determined bv 'H-NMR techniaue. The reactivity ratios of the monomers were determined by the application of the conventional linearization method suggested by Kelen and Tiidiis. The weight and number average molecular weights of the copolymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography. Thermogravimetric analysis of the copolymers was carried out in air. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers were determined by differential scanning calorimetry.
The photocrosslinking properties were studied by irradiating the polymer thin films with a high-pressure Hg lamp and measuring the changes in U.V. absorption spectra.
