✦ Synopsis
The polymerization of bisphenol-A diphthalic anhydride with 2,3-bis(per¯uoroalkyl methyl)butane-1,4 diamine (NFD) led to a new series of ¯uorinated poly(ether imide)s. In the case of C 4 F 9 per¯uoroalkyl chain, polymers and copolymers obtained from a mixture of m-phenylenediamine and NFD were characterized by FTIR, NMR, molecular weights, glass transition temperature, thermal degradation temperature and surface energies; their hydrophobic properties and processability may provide an easy preparation of non-porous ®lms.
