โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The article describes approaches for the synthesis and analysis of isotopically (^2^H, ^3^H, ^13^C, ^14^C, ^35^S) labelled drugs necessary for the development of a pharmacologically active compound into a registered drug.

Special features such as isotope effects, radiolysis and ^3^H NMR spectra are discussed.

## Abstract ^13^Cโ€, ^14^Cโ€ and ^15^Nโ€labelled ethylenethiourea was synthesized for NMR and radiotracer applications in metabolism and environmental fate studies. The products contained stable isotopes at 99% enrichment and the radiolabelled product had specific activity of 2.0 mCi/mmole.

## Abstract An efficient approach to the enantioselective synthesis of a series of amino acids from either bromoacetyl bromide or glycine is described using a [2,3]โ€sigmatropic rearrangement to establish the stereogenic centre at Cโ€2 under mild conditions.
