โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
3โMethylโ1,3โpentadiene has been polymerized with the Al(C~2~H~5~)~2~Cl/Nd(OCOC~7~H~15~)~3~/Al[CH~2~CH(CH~3~)~2~]~3~ system to crystalline polymers consisting essentially of cisโ1,4 units (โฅ80%). NMR examination has shown that the polymers have an isotactic structure. This conclusion was confirmed by Xโray analyses, which further indicated that cisโ1,4 isotactic poly(3โmethylโ1,3โpentadiene) exists in polymorphic modifications.

## Abstract The crystal structure of isotactic __cis__โ1,4โpoly(1,3โhexadiene) has been determined through a combination of Xโray diffraction analysis and molecular mechanics. Two reasonable values for unit cell parameters were obtained from the fiber diffraction pattern of a wellโoriented sample.
Poly( 1,3-phenyl octanoate) (polyHPOA) was prepared by melt and solution polycondensation methods from 8-(3-hydroxyphenyl)octanoic acid (HPOA), a novel monomer useful as a chain disruptor in liquid crystalline copolyesters. The melt polycondensation technique gave a polyester of higher inherent visc
