β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The production of magnesium oxide (MgO) nanowires on Agβcoated substrates was demonstrated by the thermal evaporation of MgB~2~ powders. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the product consisted of nanowires with average diameter in the range 80β120 nm. Xβray diffraction and highβresolution electron microscopy coincidentally indicated that the nanowires were of a singleβcrystalline cubic structure of MgO. Photoluminescence measurement with a Gaussian fitting exhibited visible light emission bands centered at 431 and 506 nm. (Β© 2007 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

A two-step approach for macro-synthesis of GaN nanowires was developed in this study. GaN nanoparticles were firstly synthesized through a facile solid-state reaction using an organic reagent dicyandiamide (C 2 N 4 H 4 ) and Ga 2 O 3 as precursors. Subsequently, single-crystalline wurtzite GaN nanow
