Abstract
A series of 2,1,3β and 1,2,4βbenzothiadiazine derivatives were synthesized by alkylation via Mitsunobu reaction and evaluated for their antiviral activity against ADV, HHVβ6, CoxβB5 and HβCMV. Most of them were active at micromolar level against one or more viral strains. All the molecules studied are poorly cytotoxic (maximum non toxic concentrations were >25ΞΌM), except one compound that presents a higher cytotoxicity (maximum non toxic concentration was 6 ΞΌM).

Finally, it is apparent that the stereochemistry of the substituent on the 9-position of the purine nucleus can vary considerably from that of ribose without appreciably affecting binding to the enzyme. For example, in the present case, the hydroxy group a t CS, is absent, and the hydroxy group at C
## Abstract An environmentally benign method has been developed for the synthesis of novel chiral thiourea derivatives in high yields in ionic liquid [Bmim]PF~6~. The ionic solvent can be recovered and reused without any loss of its activity. The target compounds were characterized by elemental ana
