The four stereoisomers of the parent keto acid of the oximino drug ximoprofen have been prepared in high enantiomeric purity. The stereochemistry in the propionic acid chain was established by the combination of Sharpless epoxidation followed by stereoselective hydrogenolysis of the benzylic carbon-
