✦ Synopsis
The title compounds as well as the corresponding scandium complex have been prepared from Ln[N(SiMe 3 ) 2 ] 3 (Ln = Sc, Gd, Yb), NaN(SiMe 3 ) 2 , and HNPh 2 in THF solution. They form colourless, moisture sensitive crystals of which the complexes with Ln = Gd (2) and Yb (3) were characterized by crystal structure determinations. 2 and 3 crystallize isotypically in the monoclinic space group C2/c with four formula units per unit cell. Both complexes form ion pairs in which the sodium atom is coordinated by two THF molecules and by two phenyl groups of the diphenylamido groups in a sandwich-like fashion. The rare earth metal atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated by the four nitrogen atoms of the NPh 2 ± and the N(SiMe 3 ) 2 ± ligands.
