✦ Synopsis

The syntheses of the racemates and the enantiomers of the title compounds 7a-7c and of racem. 1,3-dimethyl-thalidomide (8) are reported. The absolute configuration of the optically active products is determined. The hypnotic activities of the analogs of thalidomide 7a - 7c and of the intermediates 6a - 6c are to be tested in animals.
