โฆ Synopsis
Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Sustainable Construction Materials: Design, Performance, and Application, held in Wuhan, China, October 18 22, 2012. Sustainable Construction Materials 2012 contains 37 peer-reviewed papers discussing the latest research on pavement materials that support sustainable infrastructure development. About half the papers examine the use of cementitious paving materials, including studies on the rheological behavior of fresh cement mortar; the effects of small recycled aggregate fractions in concrete production; and early-age cracking. The remaining papers focus on bituminous paving materials and explore such issues as asphalt aging, maintenance of porous asphalt cement pavements, and emissions of volatile organic compounds. The use of recycled materials, such as waste tire rubber and rubber powder, and of waste materials, such as reclaimed asphalt pavement, crumb rubber, and coal tar pitch, is also covered. Many papers include descriptions of projects from around the world, including China, Libya, Sudan, South Africa, Belgium, and Austria. These papers will be valuable to construction and transportation engineers and material scientists interested in the latest developments in sustainable construction materials for pavements.
