## Abstract To determine why chitinase has different antifungal activity on different pathogenic fungi __in vitro__, we purified recombinant rice chitinase from __Pichia pastoris__ and investigated its antifungal activity against four fungi – __Rhizopus stolonifer__ (Ehrenb. et Fr.) Vuill__, Botr
