β¦ Synopsis
Surfactant in controlled amounts was added to a system subject to mass transfer enhancement by interfacial tension driven convection. A photographic technique was used to determine mass transfer rates from single drops and the reduction due to the surface active material was evaluated. Observation of a spherical cap of surfactant suggested interpretation of the measurements in terms of an active and an inactive surface region.
