✍ Marty C. Brandon; Eduardo Ruiz-Pesini; Dan Mishmar; Vincent Procaccio; Marie T. 📂 Article 📅 2009 🏛 John Wiley and Sons 🌐 English ⚖ 153 KB

We have developed a computer system, MITOMASTER, to make analysis of human mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequences efficient, accurate, and easily available. From imported sequences, the system identifies nucleotide variants, determines the haplogroup, rules out possible pseudogene contamination, identi

Partial DNA and amino acid sequences translated from the mitochondrial cytochrome subunit I gene (408 bp) of 17 mite species have been used for analyzing the phylogenetic relationships within the terrestrial Parasitengona (Trombidia). Due to mutational saturation of the third codon position, only fi

## Abstract Ancient DNA recovered from 16 Jomon skeletons excavated from Funadomari site, Hokkaido, Japan was analyzed to elucidate the genealogy of the early settlers of the Japanese archipelago. Both the control and coding regions of their mitochondrial DNA were analyzed in detail, and we could s

We have determined the sequence of the lamB gene from Klebsiella pneumoniae. It encodes the precursor to the LamB protein, a 429 amino acid polypeptide with maltoporin function. Comparison with the Escherichia coli LamB protein reveals a high degree of homology, with 325 residues strictly identical.

Nuclear sequences homologous to the plasmid-like DNA, B4, were analyzed in the Japonica rice variety, Fujiminori. Homologous sequences existed at several positions in the nuclear genome, but each contained only a portion of the B4 sequence. It was impossible to reconstruct the entire sequence of B4

## Abstract The segmented genome of rotaviruses provides an opportunity for rotavirus strains to generate a large genetic diversity through reassortment; however, this mechanism is considered to play little role in the generation of mosaic gene constellations between Wa‐like and DS‐1‐like strains i
