β¦ Synopsis
The present status of theory and experiment on the superconductivity in Rb3C6o and related fullerides is critically reviewed to judge the completeness of intramolecular electron phonon coupling as the mechanism. Data on the effect of ternary intercalation and C,o content on the Rb3C6o structure and lattice dynamics between 20 and 300 K are reported for the energy transfer region 0 < AE(meV) < 50. Well-developed translational density of states between 10 and 20 meV as well as, at low temperatures, discrete librational excitations are observed. Ammoniation quenches the superconductivity above 4 K but does not restore scattering strength to intramolecular modes broadened in the superconducting phases.

The magnetic and superconductivity properties of rubidium-doped C60 were studied. The temperature dependence of the irreversibility line H'(T') as determined by SQUID magnetization measurements gave a power law (n ,~ 2) scaling of the reduced relative irreversibility temperature with irreversibility
