✦ Synopsis

The basic principles of X and ~f ray detection by superheated superconducting granules are presented. The results of a feasibility study of an 81 by 81 mm detecting flat screen with a pixel size 300 by 300/a2 are discussed. Some applications are briefly presented.

A method of detecting gamma rays which uses the first order transition of certain superconductors has been studied. This method may be used in scintigraphic medical imaging. The paper describes a cryostat used in the new method of detection, but a prototype has not yet been built for the complete sy
