A new H-T superconducting phase diagram for UPt3 with the field at 45 Β° to the c-axis from ultrasonic velocity measurements is presented. The HFL (T) transition line is found to merge with the Hcz (T) line and the Tc, (H) line appears to terminate in the HFL(T) line at a different point.
The superconducting phase diagram of heavy-fermion UPt 3 has been investigated by means of sensitive dilatometry. The thermodynamic analysis indicates that all the phase lines are of second order. Ehrenfest relations reveal that the C phase is the stable phase under uniaxial pressure (p II e).
The tetracritical point seen in the H-T phase diagram of UPt3 for several orientations of H strongly constrains Ginzburg-Landau (GL) theories, as the GL "Hamiltonian" must have a conserved quantity Q. A two-component vector order parameter model has a Q for HNc , but no tetracritical point. Among ac
