โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
The reaction of the potassium salt of phenanthro[9,10โd]triazole and benzyl chloride gave 2โ(benzyl)โ2__H__โphenanthro[9,10โd]triazole (2a) in 15% yield. The other regioโisomer, 1โ(benzyl)โ1__H__โphenanthro[9,10โd]โtriazole (1a), was obtained as a byโproduct in 3.9% yield. Similar reactions with benzyl chlorides having a methyl, a chloro or a nitro group on the aromatic ring gave the corresponding two products, 1bโj and 2bโj. In all cases, 2bโj were major products in yields of 14โ62%, 1bโj were minor ones in yields of 1.4โ7.6%. The structures of the isomers were confirmed by Xโray crystal analyses.
