✦ Synopsis
Doppler-free polarization spectroscopy in combination with double-resonance techniques and laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy has been used to determine the X 'r+ground state with a dissociation energy De = 4950 cm-* and to extract preliminary information about the perturbed excited D ' II state of NaCs.

Direct absorption spectra ofjet-cooled molecules are recorded by m$tipassing an infrared laser beam through a nozzle expansion and with all light rays perpendicular to the nozzle axis. A small blade is placed just upstream of the laser crossing to obstruct the passage of molecules that would otherwi
