✦ Synopsis

Nitrogen isotherms have been determined at 77 K on four active carbons, used as adsorbents in gas masks, before and after n-nonane ~readsorption. The four carbons contain both micro and mesopores. After n-nonane preadsorption, mesoporosity is still observed, together with a, low pressure hysteresis that can be ascribed to the penetration of Nz into the porous system through n-nonane stoppers that block some of the pore entrances. Results have been analyzed by means of the Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) equation and the OL, method.

## Abstract The possibilities of inverse gas‐solid chromatography (IGC) in obtaining chromatographic data on fumed silica were examined. Aerosil A‐200, a fused silica model substrate in ^29^Si nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, was trimethylsilylated to different degrees. IGC was used to very rep
