✦ Synopsis


The vibrational levels v = 1-5 of N2( X 1Zg) are identified in the active nitrogen afterglow for p = 10-70 Torr by pulsed multichannel laser Raman Stokes spectroscopy. The values obtained for the vibrational temperature are explained by the pressure dependence of the relative probabilities of relaxation mechanisms in homogeneous and heterogeneous phases.
