β¦ Synopsis
Using the crack initiation measurements for notched specimens with various geometry (CT and axisymetric notched specimens) and different notch radii, we will try to determine the number of cycles to initiate a fatigue crack in the vicinity of stress concentration.

Under the conditions of constant nominal applied stress. increasing notch root radius causes an increase in the number of cycles to initiate a fatigue crack at a notch root. An explanation of the effect is given in terms of the effective stress concentration factor of the notch. Data are presented w
Fatigue tests have been carried out on edge notched mild steel specimens of various thicknesses. Results are presented showing the effect of thickness on crack initiation, crack growth and the geometry and fractography of the fracture surface. It was found that both crack initiation and crack growth
