A mesoporous silica has been prepared by base-catalyzed hydrolysis and polymerization of silicate ions followed by a vapor infiltration (VI) treatment using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). X-ray diffraction analyses suggested that the VItreated mesostructured silica did not contract during calcination, sh
