Three hypotheses on the mechanism of aerobic oxidation of pyruvic acid are available at present, namely, (1) the acid is oxidized directly to aleetic acid and carbon dioxide with the aid of "a-keto-oxidase" (Barron and Miller, '32) : (2) The acid is first converted into acetaldehyde by the action o
