The change in electric dipole moment and molecular polarizability of indocarbocyanine (ICC) in Langmuir-Blodgett films upon excitation into Sj is estimated to be 5.3 Γ— 10 -32 C m (0.016 D) and 3.5 x 10 -40 J-~ C 2 m 2 (3.1 in units of 4'rre o A~). respectively, based on the electroabsorption spectra
